Connor Shelton McCulley, 18, of 820 Chestnut Wood Lane is facing charges in connection with a robbery and assault on the parking lot of the Bi-Lo on East Brainerd Road.
Christopher Richards said his friend, McCulley, called him last Thursday and said he wanted to see his Jeep. He said both are into Jeeps and that McCulley wanted to see his new rims and lift kit.
He said he went to the parking lot and saw a black male get out of McCulley's Jeep. He said he had never seen the man before, but he proceeded to get into his Jeep.
He said the man pointed a revolver at him while reaching over and taking his keys. He said the man told him, "Give me everything you have."
He said he told the man he did not have anything else, but he said he knew he had a cell phone because he had just been talking with McCulley. He said the man reached into his pocket and took his cell phone along with his wallet with $150 cash.
He said he began to struggle with the man, who struck him several times in the face with the gun, causing a deep laceration on the bridge of his nose and several other small cuts around his right eye.
He said when he tried to get out of the Jeep the man struck him in the back of the head with the gun, causing another laceration.
He said he was finally able to get out of his Jeep and make it to another vehicle, where that person called police.
The man with the gun jumped out of his Jeep and got back into McCulley's vehicle and they drove off, it was stated.
Police said, "The identification of the second suspect is pending."
McCulley is due in General Sessions Court next Monday.
