John Cherne has resigned as the boys basketball coach at Red Bank High School.

Red Bank will now be looking for a new boys and girls coach. Girls basketball coach Steve Redman resigned recently to take over the boys program at Signal Mountain High School.

Cherne will move to Kapaun Mount Carmel High School in Wichita, Kan., where he will take over as head boys basketball coach. Cherne, who went to high school in Wichita, said the move will get him closer to his mother.

At Red Bank, Cherne led the Lions to a .697 winning percentage (163-71) and two state-tournament berths. The Lions were 25-8 this past season.
