Local Soccer Club Joining CFC In Chattanooga Soccer Academy

  • Monday, March 26, 2012

Chattanooga United Futbol Club announced recently that they would be joining CFC (Chattanooga Football Club) Academy in an effort to  bring together the area youth soccer clubs.

“I am very encouraged that this new club is in direct line with Chattanooga United’s mission that we established in 2009 - to provide a unified, positive soccer experience for youth in the greater Chattanooga Community in a manner that develops and enhances their skills and passion for the game which translates into success both on the field and off,” said Chattanooga United president Trevin Bernarding.

“As such, I have recommended to our board that we join the CFC Academy beginning with the 2012/13 soccer year. Our board voted unanimously tonight to accept my recommendation.”

Chattanooga United was begun several years ago to bring the efforts of Redoubt FC, Middle Valley Soccer and North River Soccer Association under one umbrella organization.  East Ridge Express remained as a separate club organization as well as Signal Mountain and Premier Soccer.

CFC board members met recently with eight representatives from the Chattanooga soccer community about forming a managing board for the new provisional club, Chattanooga FC Academy.  Representatives from all local associations – Chattanooga United, East Ridge Soccer Association, Premier Soccer Academy, Tennessee Soccer, and members of the current NPSL Chattanooga FC board were present.

According the CFC website “the Chattanooga FC Academy board will work with Chattanooga FC Board to set in place the Academy’s mission, vision and philosophy of player development.”

Back in February, the Chattanooga Football Club convened a “soccer summit” to discuss the state of Chattanooga youth soccer.    More than 30 CFC officials, local high school and college coaches and representatives from the various soccer associations were in attendance at the summit.
