Mattie Bell Tinsley, of Dalton, GA, died Monday evening, July 23, 2012 at her home surrounded by her loving family. 

Mrs. Tinsley was born April 29, 1921 in Forsyth County, GA, a daughter of the late Robert and Elizabeth Smith Lively; and was also preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Shawn Tinsley; and her brothers, Jerome, Bill, Ruel, Roy, Leonard, Smith and Jesse Lively. 

She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a devoted friend. She was the oldest member of Whitfield Baptist Church. 

She is survived by her loving of husband of 70 years, Roy "Pappy" Tinsley of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Reverend Wayne Cofield of Dalton; sons and daughters-in-law, Jack and Barbara Tinsley of Conyers, GA and Ken and Nancy Tinsley of Lawrenceville, GA; grandchildren, Matthew and Nikki Tinsley, Jackie Strickland, Ginger and Dennis Pigg, Todd Tinsley, Jeff and Andrea Tinsley, Jason and Rebecca Cofield, Amy and Mark Coffey, Stephanie and Trent Cornwell, Stephen and Stephanie Cofield; great-grandchildren, Lily Belle Tinsley, Luke Strickland, Alex and Taylor Pigg, Aiden and Adyline Tinsley, Emilee, Luke and Addison Coffey, Thatcher and Tinsley Cornwell, Abby and Bryce Cofield, Tyler Ellis, Chase Souther and one the way, Allie Roe Tinsley; and many loving nieces and nephews. 

Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Mattie Bell Tinsley will be held Thursday, July 26, at 11:30 a.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Bobby Padgett and Reverend Wayne Cofield officiating. She will be laid to rest at 3:30 p.m. the Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs, GA, with her grandsons serving as pallbearers. 

The family will receive friends Ponders Melrose Chapel from 4-10 p.m. Wednesday, July 25 and after 9 a.m. Thursday, July 26. 

Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Whitfield Baptist Church, 2134 Dug Gap Rd, Dalton, GA, 30720. 

Arrangements are by Ponders Melrose Chapel.
