Rodney L. Simms, 59, of Dalton, GA, died Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at his residence.
Rodney was born on April 25, 1953 in Dalton, a son of late Robert and Doris Simms. Rodney was born in Atlanta, then moved to Texas where he spent most of his adult life. In the fall of 2007 he returned to Dalton and developed a close and loving relationship with his son Joseph. Rodney was a gentle man and always willing to help anyone. Rodney will be sadly missed by his family.
He is survived by his son, Joseph "Jody" Simms; mother of his son, Lyvonne Johnson Simms of Dalton; daughter and her family, Joanna Simms of Rome, GA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob and Cathy Simms of Rome and Chris and Delania Simms of Dalton; sister and brother-in-law, Theresa and John Bates of Rome; grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Rodney L. Simms will be held Friday August 31, at 6 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel.
The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5-6 p.m. Friday, August 31.
