GPS Athletic Director Stacey Hill received the A.F. Bridges Award as district Athletic Director of the Year on Monday at a regional TSSAA recognition event.

The state athletic association sponsors the awards program and receives nominations from a Citizenship/Sportsmanship committee. The award is given for “displaying the high ideals of integrity and ethics and for the examples of citizenship and sportsmanship,” according to the TSSAA.

Mr. Hill moved to Chattanooga in 1989 to become the GPS Athletic Director and coach the cross country and track teams. During his 24-year tenure, the GPS athletic program has won 31 TSSAA state titles and the 2011-12 Blue Cross Blue Shield Championship Award.

He served as the State Track and Field Meet Director for nine years when Spring Fling was in Chattanooga. Currently he is the head coach of only the GPS track and field squad and is the Division II East-Middle Region Coordinator.

“Athletic Directors receive awards when the entire school community achieves outstanding success,” Mr. Hill says. “I have been blessed over and over again with the opportunity to work with great student-athletes, coaches, administrators and parents.”
