Scoffield, Roy Allen

Roy Allen Scoffield, 69, died on February 23, 2013 at his residence.  

He was educated in the Chattanooga City School System. 

He is a retiree from both U.S. Pipe Foundry and City of Chattanooga.  He was a member of Greater St. John Missionary Baptist Church, where he participated in the male chorus.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy Gillespie Scoffield Hawkins and Eddie Scoffield, Sr.

Survivors include his brothers, Thomas (Jean), Rome, Ga.; Eddie Jr. (Barbara), Decatur, Ga.; Cecil, Chattanooga, and Michael (Lydia), Lithonia, Ga.; sisters, Annie L. Gaines, (also his caregiver) Chattanooga; Geneva Ware, Ringgold; a special and devoted aunt, Mary Gaither, Atlanta; host of nieces and nephews; two devoted friends, Jerome and Clarrissa Wilson.

Services will be held on Saturday, March 2, at noon at Greater St. John Missionary Baptist Church with Elder Delford L. Hughley officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hills.

The body will lie in state after noon on Friday, March 1, and the family will receive friends from 6–7 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
