World War II Veteran Retired From DuPont After 42 Years

Ralph Alder Condra, 87, of Chattanooga, died peacefully at his home on Friday, October 10, 2014.

Ralph was born on the Condra farm in Whitwell to the late Fred and Marie Condra.  He graduated from Whitwell High School and served our country during World War II in the United States Army.  Ralph retired from Dupont with over 42 years of service.  Ralph enjoyed farming, working on old cars and loved his family.  He was a member of White Oak Baptist Church. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Mays Condra; his brother-in-law, Joel McWilliams.

Ralph is survived by his three daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra Cox and husband John, Janet Wilkins and husband Lowe, and Karen Jones and husband Randy; grandchildren, Nathan Cox, Connor Wilkins and Brittany Jones; sisters, Margie McWilliams, Dorothy Thacker and husband Paul, and Viva Craven and husband John; many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 10:30-11:30 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 13, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

A celebration of life service for Ralph will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home chapel with Dr. Tony Wilson officiating.

Burial will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, at Condra Cemetery in Whitwell.

The family has asked that memorial contributions be made in Ralph’s name to White Oak Baptist Church, 310 Memorial Drive, Chattanooga, Tn. 37415 or Hospice of Chattanooga, 4411 Oakwood Drive, Chattanooga, Tn. 37416.

Greg Craven, Freddy McWilliams, Ed Thacker, David Mays, Brian Mays, Lyle Mays, Jr., Larry Ashford, and Greg Hudson will serve as honorary pallbearers. 

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
