Melba Sue Craig Smith
Melba Sue Craig Smith, 80, died on Wednesday, April 2, 2014.
She was a wonderful Christian lady who was a member of the Soddy Church of Christ. Her life was a testimony of a Christian woman. Sue always put others first. She loved to cook for everyone and entertain people in her home. Sue loved to send cards to spread sunshine to those who were sick.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and John Ann Lepley Craig and brothers, Bennett and Billy Craig.
She is survived by her loving husband, Robert (Bob) Smith; three children and their spouses, Robert, Jr. and Vickie Smith, Craig and Jill Smith and Kim and Ralph Smith; grandsons, Trey Smith, Chris and wife, Brooke Smith; Ty and Eric Smith; sisters, Mattie Jo Broughton of Florida and Mary Lynn Hall of Soddy-Daisy, special sister-in-law and brother-in-law, John and Betty Day and sister-in-law, Loretta Smith. She also loved her extended family, John and Faith Graves and family and Garry and Brenda Holland and boys, special friend, Gretchen Castleberry who has been so helpful to our family along with many others in Sue’s church family.
Services will be held on Saturday, April 5, at noon in the funeral home chapel with Minister Bill Greer officiating. Burial will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Heath Holland, Don Zeigler, Barry Arnold, Garry Holland, Andy Holland and Alex Holland serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be on Friday, April 4, from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Special thanks to Hearth Hospice, especially Dr. Rodela, Talene and our special little girl, Shana Spencer. They have been so loving and caring during her illness. We especially want to thank all our church family for the prayers, visits and food during Sue’s illness.
