Charles H. Schievelhud, Jr., 88, of Dalton, GA, passed away Monday, May 26, 2014.
Charles was born in 1926 in Chattanooga, TN but had been a resident of Dalton for 38 years. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during WWII. He was a Seventh Day Adventist and was associated with Mill Creek Baptist Church for many years.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Sloan Schievelhud.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Bill Hailey; a son, Steve Schievelhud; grandchildren, Travis (Paulette) Schievelhud, Chris (Kelly) Hailey, Tyler Schievelhud and Rebecca Schievelhud; great-grandchildren, Hogan and Lillian Rose Hailey and Jonathan and Isabella Schievelhud all of Chattanooga; a nephew, Bill Sutherland of Chattanooga; two nieces, Marti Cornwell of Chattanooga and Cindy Swinford of Cohutta; and special friends, Judy and Glenn Pair of Dalton.
The family would like to give special thanks to his loving caregivers, Ginnie Schwarzl, Pat Truett, Marcy Heatherly and all of the wonderful professionals from Hospice of Chattanooga especially his CNA, Leah Collins.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. Thursday, May 29 until services at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Love Funeral Home with the Rev. Keely Hasty officiating. Burial will follow in Whitfield Memorial Gardens.
