East Lake Getting Power Scape Play System; Fitness Zones Planned At East Lake, Carver, South Chattanooga

  • Saturday, August 30, 2014

The community of East Lake is getting a Power Scape play system.

The City Council is set to take action on the facility on Tuesday.

The purchase is from the local Playcore firm, which is giving the city a break of $85,155 on the cost as part of its "Give Where We Live" program.

That leaves a city cost of $84,844.

The Trust for Public Land is donating three fitness zones at East Lake, Carver and South Chattanooga Recreation Centers.

The value of the TPL donation is $250,000.

The Trust for Public Land's Fitness Zone program provides free outdoor fitness equipment in local parks - often in neighborhoods where gym memberships are too pricey to be practical, officials said.
