James Plumlee
James Ralph Plumlee, 58, died on Monday, August 10, 2015.
Jimmy was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area and a member of the Hixson First Baptist Church. He graduated from Hixson High School in 1974 where he excelled in football and baseball. Jimmy was also on the Middle Valley Senior All-Star team that won the 1975 Dizzy Dean World Series and was named the MVP. He went on to play baseball at Chattanooga State where he was a two time all-region performer. Jimmy was inducted into the Chattanooga State Hall of Fame in 2014. He had worked for UPS and most recently for Big Ridge Cleaners. Jimmy loved to fish and watch fishing and hunting shows. He was preceded in death by his father, John E. Plumlee.
Survivors include his mother, Lois Plumlee; daughters, Jamie and Abbie Plumlee; former wife, June Plumlee; brother, John (Patricia) Plumlee; sister, Jo Pearson; nephews, James (Kristy) Plumlee; Jerry (Amie) Pearson; nieces, Julie (Brian) Chase, Natalie (Ben) Underwood; four great-nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Friday, Aug. 14, at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Terry Shannon officiating.
Visitation will be on Friday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
