"Communism with a god.” That’s how Hamilton County Sheriff Jim Hammond sees Islam.
He also said Muslims are aiming to overtake Tennessee. He said, "They want Tennessee. They are building mosques as fast as they can."
In an address to the Pachyderm Club on Monday, Sheriff Hammond spoke again to the community on the effects of radical Islam and the dangers it may present to modern America.
He spoke directly from his years spent working in Amman, Jordan, an experience that he said allowed him to learn a great deal about Islam.
While abroad, he worked as a training director for the Jordanian International Police Training Center where he and his team trained over 45,000 officers.
On Monday, he made the comparison to Islam saying that decades ago, radical communists wanted to do away with the Constitution.
Now he says that the country is seeing some of that same ideological pressure from another social and religious group.
Referring to the shooting that took place this summer, he called it “Islamic Terrorism” and said, “We were shocked in Chattanooga, but we shouldn’t have been.”
He said that the shooter used to turn his back on the flag during the pledge of allegiance in school, racked up a significant amount of debt, and then attempted to absolve himself on earth by committing the crimes he did.
Sheriff Hammond said, “What you saw was a perfect example of what is encouraged in Islam.”
According to Sheriff Hammond, the billions of Muslims around the world today will agree on two things: that Allah is god alone, and that Muhammad is his prophet.
He said that the number of individuals who are members of the religion and who want to attack the United States should be alarming.
He also said that Muslims are progressively ingratiating themselves in American society, growing in number and entering public office with the ultimate objective of overthrowing or opposing the government.
According to the sheriff, there is already a large enough Islamic population in 10 Western countries to overthrow their respective governments.
He said Islam is the “biggest infringement on the constitution and country since Communism, but what makes it so insidious is that it’s a social order that wants to overthrow and uses religion.
