Student Hit And Killed While Riding Bike To School In Lookout Valley

A student riding a bike to school was hit and killed early Wednesday morning in Lookout Valley.

Chattanooga Police responded to a cyclist struck at 136 Browns Ferry Road. The victim was a juvenile cyclist who was riding his bike to school. 

 

The victim, a student at Lookout Valley High School, was crossing Browns Ferry Road (five lanes) from left to right on an angle at the crest of a hill. The vehicle, an Oldsmobile, was traveling in the far right lane. The driver advised police that she did not see the cyclist until it was too late and attempted to avoid the crash by swerving and braking.

 

 Police said speed and alcohol/drugs are not a factor in the crash. 

 

 The victim was transported to a local hospital by Hamilton County EMS, where he succumbed to his injuries. No other injuries were reported.

 

The driver of the car was Kimberly Hartman, 37.

 

Chattanooga Police ask anyone with information regarding this incident to call 423-698-2525.  The investigation is ongoing and more information will be released when available.
