Erlanger Heart And Lung Institute Adds Cardiothoracic Surgeon Dr. Larry Shears

  • Tuesday, November 29, 2016
The Erlanger Heart and Lung Institute announces the hiring of Dr. Larry Shears II to its network of cardiologists.

"Dr. Shears is a nationally renowned board certified robotic cardiothoracic surgeon. He is recognized as one of the two most experienced robotic heart surgeons in the world. Through three small incisions, Dr. Shears is capable of performing bypasses and other major surgeries without opening the chest. This technique allows the patient to recover faster and with fewer complications and pain than traditional heart surgery," officials said.

“Dr.
Shears’ expertise in robotic surgery techniques is invaluable to our Erlanger Heart and Lung Institute,” said Kevin M. Spiegel, FACHE, president and CEO of Erlanger Health System. “We are extremely fortunate to have him here in Chattanooga and providing world class care to our cardiology patients.”
