Reese Ray Thomas Sr. 74, of Chatsworth, Georgia, passed away on Friday, April 15, 2016.
Mr. Thomas was born July 19, 1941 in Spruce Pine, NC to the late Paul and Naomi Thomas. He was a man of Christian faith who attended First Baptist Church of Chatsworth, GA.
Mr. Thomas was a true family man. His wife and children were his pride and joy. Thomas enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports, gardening, singing, playing the piano, and was a phenomenal Baker, which he inherited from his mother. Even up until his last days, he was still up baking all kinds of goodies. If you knew Reese, you would have known that he had a giving soul. He would give to everyone he knew or even if he just passed you by for a second; if you needed he was always there.
Reese was a good old country boy at heart, who was as compassionate and humble as anyone could be. He grew up with very little and became a man who provided for his family, and was known throughout the community of Chatsworth. He was one to have a memorable personality. In 1991 during the Persian Gulf War, Reese led a brigade through Chatsworth and was the spokesman for the town. He was truly a man of integrity and strength who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Mr. Thomas is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; son, Reese Ray Thomas Jr. and wife Lynn; daughters, Rebecca and husband Gary Quast and Kimberly Thomas; brother, Roger and wife Theresa Thomas; sisters, Roberta and husband Maynard Preston, Roxanne and husband Mike Aldridge and Ruby and husband Fred McWhithey; and grandchildren, Cassandra Quast, Kathryn Quast, Gillian Thomas, Reese Ray Thomas III and Jacob Quast.
A Celebration of life will be held at First Baptist Church of Chatsworth at a later date.
