Edith Works Head, born February 2, 1922, died on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at the age of 94.

She was a Christian, attending Central Church of Christ for many years.

Our mother, grandmother and friend was a spirited woman, a gentle soul, a giver, a lover of all people, who faithfully served her Lord. During her long life she tirelessly cooked for shut-ins, sewed for children less fortunate (making over 400 dresses for Nicaraguan children), sent many cards of encouragement, and visited the lonely and infirmed. All who knew her were blessed by her warm smile and generous spirit.

She was predeceased by her father and mother, Isaac Webster Works and Ollie Mae Johnson Works, brothers Ray and Ralph Works, sisters Sue Evatt and Blanche Brown.

She is survived by daughters, Sheryl Lanfear of Chattanooga, Montie Shellenberger of Ooltewah; grandchildren Allison (Stephen) Isenberg of Red Bank, Tn., Jay (Alicja) Lanfear of Murfreesboro, Tn., Brian Rader of Harrison, Tn., Rhonda (Kevin) Bond of Columbia, S.C., Eric (Shannon) Rader of Cheyenne, Wy., Jeff (Ann-Marie) Rader of Charleston, S.C. She is also survived by her brother, Aaron Ross Works of North Carolina, and sister, Faye Parker of Chattanooga. She has nine great-grandchildren: Samantha Rodriguez, Dylan Rader, Dylan DeBold, Franchesca (Frankie) Rader, Tristin Rader, Colt Isenberg, Jake Jordan, Reagan Bond, Jackson Bond, Jeremiah Rader. You all held a special place in her heart!

Services will be held at the chapel of Hamilton Funeral Home at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 15, with Minister Joey Davis officiating. Burial will be in LaFayette cemetery in LaFayette, Ga.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, July 14, from 4-7 p.m. and on
Friday, July 15, from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home.

A special thank you to the staff of Life Care Center of Collegedale for your loving, compassionate care of our mother. She loved you all!!
