Retired From U.S. Pipe-Walters Industries After 39 Years

Charlie Walter Graham, 92, died on Monday, September 19, 2016 at Erlanger Hospital. 

Charlie was born July 24, 1924 in New Market, Madison County, Al.

He joined the United States Army and served as a warehouseman during the last of World War II and received the Victory Ribbon. 

Mr. Graham retired from U.S. Pipe-Walters Industries, inc. after 39 years of service.  He was a member of Mount Canaan Baptist Church and served as a deacon for over 50 years.  Deacon Graham was faithful in service until his brief illness prevented him from attending church.  He was known by many of those at various establishments in the city as a very friendly person. 

Mr. Graham was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Frances Petty Graham; grandparents, Wilson and Mary Lou Clay Graham, and Press and Addie Petty; son Charlie L. Graham; brothers, George and Willie Graham and sister, Mary Graham Crutcher. 

Survivors include his wife, Reverend Esther L. Graham; his children—Vera G.(Louis) Culpepper, Louise Houston, Lillie Jones, Willie Graham (Albert) Dean, James L. (Rutha) Smith, Robert Smith, Bobby Smith and Clarence Smith; grandchildren, great grandchildren nieces, nephews, and many other loving relatives.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 25, at Mount Canaan Baptist Church, 4801 Highway 58 on with Pastor Ternae Jordan, eulogist. Burial will be on Monday, Sept. 26, at 10:30 a.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery.

The body will in state after noon on Saturday, Sept. 24, at the funeral home.
