Police Blotter: Burglars Try To Break Into Drug Store

Police said thieves tried to break into the CVS on Hixson Pike.

Video showed a vehicle drive up to the front door. A passenger got out and tried to use a crow bar to get in, but was unable to do so.

The burglar had on gloves and a mask.

The pair left empty-handed.

At the Ace Hardware on Lee Highway, a white male cut a metal cable on a chain saw.

He then walked out with the saw.

The manager of the Mapco on Hamill Road said a former employee tried to pass a counterfeit $50 bill.

On the night shift, the ex-employee took a $54.90 carton of Newport 100s to the counter. The manager said he gave two $50 bills - one that was genuine and one that was fake.

The attendant did not recognize the bad bill and gave the former employee the cigarettes and change.

Chandler Cleland said he was selling his IPhone 6 Plus for $1,200.

He arranged to meet a purchaser at the Mapco on Rossville Boulevard.

A white female who expressed interest in the phone said she needed to go inside to the ATM.

She then ran out of the other side of the store with the phone. She jumped into a waiting vehicle. It was a blue four-door BMW with a temporary tag.

Police said they spotted Jonas Richardson executing a theft in progress at a lot on King Street.

He tried to throw down some money and run away. He was found between two vehicles.

Police said Richardson has a long history of similar vehicle thefts downtown.

Horace Trotter said two men walked up to him and Twain Jackson on Rossville Boulevard and they had a confrontation.

He said they advised the men they were armed, and the pair responded that "theirs was bigger."

Both sides drew handguns.

When police were called, the pair fled.

One was a white male with dreads and the other was a black male.
