Retired From Chattanooga City Schools After Many Years

Mary Nelle Moore, 92, of Ooltewah, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 12, 2017, at her home. 

She was born in Decatur, Al., to the late Mattie LaMay and William Murphree. Mrs. Moore was retired from Chattanooga City Schools after many years of service. She was a member of Ridgedale Baptist Church.

Her husband, John Alex Moore; son, Jim Moore; and several siblings preceded her in death.

Survivors include her children, Joyce (Michael) Humphrey of Rossville, Nancy (Alan) Albritton of Georgetown, and Kirk Moore of East Ridge; seven grandchildren, Demetri Proffitt, Patrick Moore, Kim Turner, Patience Colvin, Candice Humphrey, Chris Humphrey, and Alex Moore; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  

The family will receive friends on Monday, Oct. 16, from 5-8 p.m. and Tuesday, Oct. 17,  from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 17, at 12:30 p.m. in the Valley View Chapel with Dr. Doug Plumlee and Brother Nathan Colvin officiating.  Interment will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
