The speaker at the Rotary Club of Chattanooga Hamilton Place this week was David Carroll, who co-anchors Channel 3 Eyewitness News Live at 5 and Channel 3 Eyewitness News at 6.

Mr. Carroll is the author of "Volunteer Bama Dawg" a collection of his humorous newspaper columns, and "Chattanooga Radio and Television" a history of broadcasting in the Scenic City (www.chattanoogaradiotv.com).
He shared some great stories of local characters and events.

U.S. Navy Ensign Jacob Wirz expressed his appreciation to the Hamilton Place Club for championing his sponsorship as a Rotary District Global Scholar. Mr. Wirz was chosen from among dozens of applicants to become the recipient of the Rotary District's Global Scholarship which is a $30,000 scholarship to study abroad. The scholarship is made possible through contributions by rotarians to its District and National Foundation.

Kevin Beirne and Todd Gaither from the Hamilton Place Rotary Club were instrumental in Mr. Wirz's application process and club sponsorship.

Mr. Wirz will attend Oxford University in England for one year and then return to his active military service.
