Temporary Lane Closures For Surface Repair On I-24 East Near U.S. 27 Scheduled For The Weekend

Tennessee Department of Transportation contract crews will have temporary lane closures this weekend on I-24 East on the bridge over Chestnut Street at mile marker 178.6 near the U.S. 27 interchange in Chattanooga to replace deteriorating skid-resistant surface on the bridge. 

The work will begin at 9 p.m. on Friday, and be completed by 2 p.m.

on Saturday. One lane of traffic will remain open on the bridge at all times during this work.

Drivers are encouraged to avoid this area during the repair work. Those who must travel on I-24 East during this repair work should expect long delays. Drivers are urged to obey the signage and pay close attention to changing conditions in the work zone. 

This work is weather dependent. Should inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances postpone this work, it will be rescheduled to take place as soon as possible.
