Everyone around the world is invited to sing along with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square to Handel’s Messiah on Friday, March 23.
According to the Mormon newsroom website, “the concert will be live streamed and church and community choirs, congregations, families and anyone else who loves music are invited to sing along.”
The concert will be live at 9:30 p.m., with a pre-concert feed beginning at 9 p.m. "Everyone in the greater Chattanooga area is invited to participate," officials said.
“For a more immersive experience, participants are encouraged to download a PDF of the musical score and the concert program with libretto.
The Mormon Tabernacle Choir site also provides instructions on how to view or plan a Messiah Sing-Along. Also included are Messiah Recordings, Handel’s biography and instructions for how to learn the “Hallelujah” Chorus parts.
As stated on the site, “This Messiah tradition continues to be a wonderful way to celebrate the birth, life, death and resurrection of Christ with people all over the world. During the last Messiah performances in 2016, more than 170,000 people in over 190 countries around the world joined via the digital stream in their homes with family and friends, or with larger groups in churches, schools and community centers. Many others joined as their own Messiah events took place using the on-demand internet stream available from the Choir’s website for a limited period following the live performance.”
This year’s concert may be viewed at mormontabernaclechoir.org/messiah, LDS.org, YouTube, or the Mormon Channel, on Friday, March 23, at 7:30 p.m. (mountain daylight time) which is 9:30 p.m. Easter Standard Time.
