Millard Jeffers
Millard Tim Jeffers, 86, of Harrison, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga.
Born on May 5, 1932, in Scott County, Tn., he was the son of the late Arthur and Bettie Boshears Jeffers. He was a member and Deacon Emeritus at Bayside Baptist Church, retired from Norfolk Southern Railway, and was a veteran of the United States Army.
In addition to his parents, Tim was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Clifford and Ollie Sexton, sisters, Elva Ruth (Overstreet) Yaden, Ophelia (Levi) Laxton, Melba Jean Acres and Leah June Jeffers, and brothers, Ervin E. (Clolene) Jeffers and Vaughn Jeffers.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Sexton Jeffers; daughters, Jolly (Paul) Goins and Gaye Jeffers; son, Marc Jeffers; grandson, Prentice Jeffers; special “adopted” son, Jordan Fleetwood; family friend, Shannen Robertson; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Estelle and Raney Chitwood and brothers-in-law, Johnny Acres and Don Jeffers. Tim had so many special nieces, nephews and friends that he loved dearly, especially members of the Joy Sunday School class at Bayside Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 12, at 1 p.m. at Bayside Baptist Church with Reverend Grady Cooper officiating with Laura Highlander assisting. Family will receive friends from 11 a.m.–1 p.m. at Bayside Baptist prior to the funeral.
A private burial will be held at the Chattanooga National Cemetery on May 15 at 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bayside Baptist Church Missions Fund, 6100 Highway 58, Harrison, Tn. 37341.
