Chattanooga’s first and largest plastic surgery group marked a new milestone with Dr. Todd Thurston receiving board certification from the American Board of Plastic Surgery. The group is now lead by six board-certified surgeons.
Dr. Thurston joined the group in 2017 and his practice includes cosmetic surgery of the face, breast and body. In addition, he has a special interest in the care of children with cleft and craniomaxillofacial anomalies as well as interests in research and quality improvement initiatives to ensure that patients receive the most appropriate, affordable and highest quality medical care available.
A graduate of the University of Alabama School of Medicine, Dr. Thurston was a co-founder of the Equal Access Clinic, providing indigent care in the Birmingham area. He later completed a residency in integrated plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Kansas Medical Center and completed a craniomaxillofacial fellowship at The University of Michigan.
Along with his work at the Plastic Surgery Group, Dr. Thurston also serves as the Director of Pediatric Plastic Surgery for Erlanger Children’s Hospital. Dr. Thurston is the region’s only craniofacial surgeon.

Dr. Jason Rehm, The Plastic Surgery Group’s Managing Partner said, “We’d like to congratulate Dr. Thurston on this well-earned certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgeons. At the Plastic Surgery Group, we emphasize and prize dedication of our medical professionals. Not only does this certification show Dr. Thurston’s commitment to the technical mastery of the surgeries he performs, it also shows the discerning aesthetic eye it takes to blend skills. We value the shared commitment to the highest levels of care Dr. Thurston adds to our practice.”
Dr. Thurston and his wife reside on Signal Mountain with their three children. In his spare time he enjoys time with his family, sailing, mountain biking and photography.
