TDOT Contractor To Reduce Lanes On Spring Creek Road Bridge Over I-24

  • Thursday, October 10, 2019

As part of the I-75/I-24 design-build interchange modification project in Hamilton County, TDOT contract crews will be replacing the Spring Creek Road bridge over I-24. To facilitate this work, the bridge must be reduced from four lanes to two lanes (one lane in each direction) for the duration of the project.

On Sunday evening, the contractor will shift and restripe the lanes on the bridge and reconfigure the traffic signals at the intersections of Spring Creek Road with North Terrace and South Terrace.

This new two-lane traffic pattern on the Spring Creek Road bridge will be in place before the start of morning rush-hour on Monday.

Motorists are encouraged to be patient and alert as they adjust to this new traffic pattern.

Upon completion of the project, the new Spring Creek Road bridge will include four travel lanes (two in each direction), a 12-foot median, two four-foot bike lanes, and two five-foot sidewalks.

C.W. Matthews Contracting Co., Inc. is the contractor for the $132.6-million I-75/I-24 interchange modification design-build project, which is slated for completion in June 2021.
