Alma Jean Arnold Carter, 82, of Chattanooga, passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2019, in a local hospital.
She was born in Little Rock, Ar., to Mrs. Annice McEwen Arnold and raised in Memphis, Tn., by her grandparents, Elvridge and Cleora McEwen.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Carter, Sr., godmother, Lucille Moore; godsisters, Mary Favors and Patricia Higgins.
Alma leaves to cherish memories her devoted sons, Jerryl Arnold of Memphis, Pastor Eugene (Sherrine) Carter, Jr. of Powell, Tn., and Brett (Jovette) Carter of Atlanta; grandchildren, LaToya Hyde, Tiffany Carter-Stewart, Eugene “Tré” Carter III, Brittany Carter; great-grandchildren, Ava Stewart, Kingston Stewart, Maxwell Stewart, Bryan Yancey, Brandon Davis, and Desiré Hogan; godchildren, Karen Fletcher, Michelle Winston, Shandal Scoville, and Sandra Harris; special companion, Albert Hitchcock ; a host of cousins; other relatives and friends; including Gamma Theta Sigma Philos, Hwy. 58 Krystal Club, Chattanooga Police Department School Patrol, and Union Hill Church family.
Visitation will be on Saturday, Nov. 9, at 11 a.m. at Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
Funeral services will follow at noon with Pastor Samuel Jackson, eulogist.
Burial will be on Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 10 a.m. in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
