Framatome Announces 2019 Engineer Of The Year Awardees

  • Friday, February 22, 2019

Marty Bryan of Chattanooga is among those Framatome has announced as recipients of its annual Engineer of the Year awards. The program honors employees in North America who have achieved engineering excellence through notable achievements in their profession and the company’s engineering activities.

“With this award, we are recognizing the employees here at Framatome who go above and beyond to produce innovative solutions and creative technologies for our industry, while giving back to the communities in which they live,” said Gary Mignogna, president and CEO of Framatome Inc.

“We’re proud to say that this kind of out-of-the-box thinking by our team is propelling our industry forward and enriching the communities we call home.”

Jordan Goulder, based in Lynchburg, Va., was selected as Framatome’s 2019 Engineer of the Year for contributing directly to the company’s operational excellence with his innovative software solutions that were designed and used during nuclear power plant maintenance in 2018. He played instrumental roles in the development of software for a range of non-destructive examination (NDE) services, including pipe scanning inspections, steam generator inspections, robotics and the redesign of bolt inspections used at nuclear power plants across North America, officials said.

Mr. Goulder spends his spare time mentoring high school students interested in pursuing technical careers. He also teaches a variety of software languages to interested STEM students through his involvement with Vector Space, a local non-profit organization.

In addition to the overall Engineer of the Year, Framatome recognizes Engineers of the Year in each business unit in North America. This year, recipients are spread across the country in Washington, Tennessee and Virginia. They include:

Fuel Business Unit
Greg Hobson (Lynchburg, Va.)
Grant Blake (Richland, Wa.)

Installed Base Business Unit
Jordan Goulder (Lynchburg, Va.)

DTI Business Unit
Marty Bryan (Chattanooga, Tn.)

Instrumentation & Control Business Unit
Kristoffer Korby (Lynchburg, Va.)

“We’re able to do something truly special at Framatome by recognizing the achievements and successes of our peers,” said Scott Wilkerson, vice president of Fuel Engineering at Framatome Inc. and executive sponsor of the Engineer of the Year program. “Our industry is constantly changing, and our vast group of talented professionals is willing and able to change with it. It is an honor to work with each of the awardees.”

Framatome’s Engineers of the Year in North America are nominated by their peers. From those nominations, business leaders and senior executives representing all business units select finalists and the Engineer of the Year. Nominees are evaluated based on their contributions to their business unit during the year and how well they exemplify operational excellence through their commitment to safety, quality, performance, delivery, innovation and community involvement.
