William Cheek Facing Vehicular Homicide Charge In Fatal Wreck On Ashmore Avenue

William Cheek is facing a vehicular homicide charge in connection with a fatal wreck in Red Bank earlyn Tuesday morning.

Cheek, 25, is also charged with DUI, reckless endangerment and reckless driving.

Passenger Haven West was ejected and died in the 3:30 a.m. wreck in the 1100 block of Ashmore Avenue.

The white Toyota 4-Runner driven by Cheek landed on its top.

Police found him and another man sitting by some gas pumps nearby.

The officer said Cheek smelled of alcohol. He admitted to drinking a total of four beers, including two at Tremont Tavern, and two at the residence of the victim.

Cheek said there was some "drama and yelling" at the home of Ms. West, then they went to the home of the other man who survived the crash to play poker.

Cheek had a blood alcohol reading of .102 at the jail, which is above the drunk level.
