Ian Shives has been named the new senior executive director at Morning Pointe of East Hamilton Assisted Living and Memory Care, at 1776 Generations Way in East Hamilton County. Mr. Shives oversees day-to-day operations in providing personalized care and services to residents and their families. He collaborates with a dedicated team of directors, nurses, nursing assistants and other support staff that focuses on fostering meaningful relationships and experiences for residents as well as promoting their health, independence and well-being. As the leader at the community, he assists with training, mentoring and developing Morning Pointe associates within the senior living domain.

Previously the executive director at Morning Pointe of Collegedale at Greenbriar Cove Assisted Living, Mr. Shives has been with Morning Pointe Senior Living for three and a half years. He earned his degree in social work from Southern Adventist University in 2010 and started his career in
senior living as a director of social services for Life Care Centers of America. He then went on to work as a director of operations and VP of operations for two other senior living companies in Colorado, Kansas and Kentucky.

“The connections I build with our residents are truly meaningful,” said Mr. Shives. “Each day brings an opportunity to not only assist with their physical needs but also to engage with them on a personal level, creating a sense of community and belonging. And working at Morning Pointe is a rewarding experience as well. The comprehensive support and innovative programming they provide to both staff and residents are genuinely refreshing and greatly enhance our ability to deliver exceptional care.”

Mr. Shives was born in Okinawa, Japan, while his father was stationed overseas with the U.S. Marine Corps, and he grew up in Pensacola, Fl. He currently resides in McDonald, Tn. with his wife,
Stacy, a nurse at Erlanger, and their two daughters. In his free time, Mr. Shives enjoys photography, hiking, being outdoors, spending time with family and doing automotive repair and maintenance.

“Ian was the perfect choice for this growing campus with his years of experience and his steady and personable leadership style,” said Abby Medley, vice president of operations for Morning Pointe Senior Living’s Appalachian Region. “Our team and our residents at East Hamilton love and respect him.”

Morning Pointe of East Hamilton offers assisted living and memory care with clinical staff available 24/7. Meals are served with dietician oversight in a restaurant-style setting and with an emphasis on fresh, local produce. Residents also enjoy a full life enrichment activity program, including regular outings, service projects, intergenerational programming, and engaging community partnerships. Physical, occupational and speech therapy services are also available on-site.

Next door, Morning Pointe Senior Living’s 41st community is under development, The Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence, East Hamilton.
