Central High School Purple Pounders To Celebrate 50 Years On Highway 58

  • Thursday, July 25, 2019

Central High School, at its Highway 58 location, will be celebrating its 50-year anniversary at the Chattanooga Trade and Convention Center on Sept. 21. The Central High School 50 years on 58 Planning Committee would like to invite all former Pounders from Dodds Avenue and Highway 58 to join in celebration.

"This celebration will be about the 112 years of impact the Central Purple Pounders have had on the people of Hamilton County and the impact the pounder alumnus continue to make around the world," organizers said.  "In 1969, Central High School moved from its location on Dodds Avenue to Highway 58 in a huge undertaking for those who went to the old Central, and for those who were starting something new. However, not even this could not dampen the Pounder spirit that continues to live on in our community today."

The Reunion Committee is holding an early bird special through Aug. 24 for $60 per person before this price increases to $75 per person through Aug. 31, which is the last day one may register.

Check-In will begin at 6 p.m. and the event will begin at 7 p.m. Heavy hors d’oeuvres will be served, a cash bar will be available and entertainment will be provided by Teddy Bare.

For more information, call Cindy Pyle at 423-605-4100 or email The Central High School 50 Years On 58 Planning Committee at chs5058@yahoo.com. To purchase tickets for this celebration, call Ms. Pyle or go online here.

"Make plans to join us for an evening to remember," organizers said.

In addition to the upcoming reunion, several pounder graduates will be inducted into the Central High School Hall of Fame the night before, on Friday, Sept. 20 at 5 p.m. at the Central High School Commons. There will be a BBQ taking place for $5 a plate.
