Friends of the Festival presents the Riverfront Nights finale Saturday night with Brownout and kicks off with a special military concert. The concert series wraps with an opportunity to experience World War II history up close on the USS LST 325 before enjoying music from Freedom Sings USA (formerly known as Operation Song) at 7 p.m.
Review for Brownout:
Headliner Brownout takes the stage at 8:15 p.m. and brings an energy to the stage like no other band. The nine man band has produced progressive Latin funk for the past 15 years. Aside from performing many notable covers and originals, the group has performed as a backing band for artists like Prince, GZA and Daniel Johnston. Brownout regularly tours the U.S. while making appearances at many of the country’s most well-known music festivals.
Plan to arrive early and enjoy a tour of the World War II USS LST 325. The USS LST 325 took part in the infamous D-Day Invasion of 1944 and also participated in other invasions and occupations. It now travels to ports around the country for a rare look inside history and will wrap its Scenic City visit on Tuesday.
Riverfront Nights, presented by BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, is free for all to enjoy at Ross's Landing on the city's 21st Century Waterfront.
