John Deffenbaugh Announces Candidacy For Ga. District 1

Sunday, September 15, 2019

John Deffenbaugh announced his candidacy as representative for Georgia District One.

He said, "I am announcing my candidacy for the position of Georgia State House of Representatives District One, which includes Dade and Walker Counties.  It has been my honor and privilege to represent the citizens of these counties (2013- 2018) to the best of my abilities.  I have earnestly sought to develop positive relationships with the leadership, including the senate, the governor, and with many of the members of the house.  My efforts resulted in our counties receiving many benefits, which included monies for the I-59 Bridge, the reworking of highway intersections, and additional financing for school projects, assisting many veterans, and serving constituent needs. I made efforts, from the Well in the Chamber, explaining where District One was, and what our needs were.  I wish also to preserve our leadership position in the State that I worked hard to develop.

"This position demands a commitment of time and energy to serve constituents. I have the ability, necessary experience, and time to present needs to the General Assemble in the best light, and to the right people to accomplish the desired outcome.

"The committees on which I served were Transportation, Regulated Industries, Veterans Affairs, Banking (vice chair), and Small Business (vice chair). All of these committees gave me the ability to get quick responses to constituent problems.

Mr. Deffenbaugh can be reached at 423 400-8128.

The primary election will be on May 19, 2020.

Chattanooga is enjoying a robust movement to plan developments in a number of downtown neighborhoods, and there is good reason to believe that well designed development should be welcomed. The opposite is also true, that bad or poorly designed development should not be welcomed, especially if it seriously degrades the existing neighborhood. In the case of a sought after rezoning ... Roy Exum: Manny Is Best For All

I am not a big fan of Bill Hagerty, the early front-runner to replace Lamar Alexander as Tennessee’s next Senator, because I dislike the thought of six more years with a partisan puppet. Hagerty was in Chattanooga earlier this week to tell the Hamilton County Pachyderm Club how loyal he is to President Donald Trump, how much he enjoys laughing at the Democrats’ presidential field ... Now that Major League Baseball's spring training is officially underway it is becoming more and more evident that the Houston Astros are completely despised by other MLB teams. Yesterday when Houston played a spring training game at Detroit, Jose Altuve was booed loudly every time he came to the plate, and was cheered when he was hit by a pitch. How long this disdain for the Astros ... (click for more)
