Officials from the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, The Nature Conservancy, and the Open Space Institute will gather on Saturday at 1 p.m. to celebrate the acquisition of nearly 400 acres expanding the Piney Falls State Natural Area, which was announced on March 12.
The event will also celebrate the 40th anniversary of The Nature Conservancy in Tennessee, which was a partner in the acquisition, and National Public Lands Day, which will include service activities and hikes at Tennessee State Parks and Natural Areas that day.
The acquisition of nearly 400 acres is an addition to the 440 acres already comprising the Piney Falls State Natural Area in Rhea County.
The event will be at 1712 Firetower Road, Grandview, Tn.
