RMHC Run4Kids Coming To Chattanooga Jan. 18, 2020

  • Monday, September 9, 2019
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Chattanooga is rebranding the long-held community event, the Karen Lawrence Run, as the RMHC Run4Kids, in Memory of Karen Lawrence. Since 1979 the Lawrence family has hosted a fundraising 5k in memory of their daughter, Karen.

“Before she lost her battle with leukemia, Karen asked us to continue helping sick kids,” said Phyllis Lawrence, Karen’s mother.  “Our family has honored that request for 40 years by both raising funds and volunteering for causes near to her heart and ours.  We are excited to continue her legacy with the Run4Kids in Memory of Karen Lawrence, a run and walk with events for everyone, from the avid runner to the family who walks together.”

The RMHC Run4Kids will be held at Camp Jordan on Saturday, Jan.
18, 2020 at 2 p.m. Attendees can expect a fun, family-friendly event with timed and untimed race experiences, as well as activities for children of all ages.  Register at https://register.chronotrack.com/r/53289.

In 2014 the Lawrence family named Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Chattanooga as the sole beneficiary of the event. "The Ronald McDonald House keeps families of critically-ill children together and allows for them to fully participate in their child’s medical care, so it is fitting that a family so dedicated to causes such as these would continue in Karen’s legacy," officials said.
