Elmer A. Ellis, Jr., 94, of Harrison, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2020.

He was the son of the late Elmer A. Ellis, Sr. and Margaret Stiff Ellis. Elmer served in the U.S. Army during WW II, achieving the rank of SSGT.  He was instrumental in getting the Brainerd tennis courts started as well as the Cumberland Youth Foundation.  Elmer was an avid tennis player for years, playing well into his 80’s and enjoyed playing doubles with his partner, Bob Elmore.  He was a charter member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church and retired from Vincent Printing after 43 years of service.

Elmer was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Ruth Ellis, and their daughter, Kim Pettit.

Survivors include his son, Gary Ellis and wife, Karen; grandchildren, Mandy Lambert and husband, Brent, Josh Ellis and wife, Brandy, and Corey Pettit; great-grandchildren, Alex Ellis, Abigail, Perrin and John Carter Lambert; and brother, Jack Ellis and wife, Irene.

A graveside service will be held Friday, Jan. 10, at 10 a.m. at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
