Thomas Earl Thurman
Thomas Earl Thurman, 79, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away on July 25, 2025.
Born on November 9, 1945, to George and Stella Thurman, in Mascot, Tennessee, Tom lived a life defined by quiet strength, integrity, and deep devotion to those he loved. A proud veteran, he served honorably in the United States Air Force, a chapter of his life that shaped his sense of duty, discipline, and patriotism.
He went on to build a 34-year career as president of operations at Knox-Tenn Rental and Sales Co., where he was known for his leadership, loyalty, and work ethic. He took great pride in his work and the relationships he built throughout his career.
Tom was a loving husband, devoted father, and beloved Papa, whose greatest joy was spending time with his family. His steady presence, gentle wisdom, and warm smile will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Susan Thurman, his children, Erin (Lena) and Jim (Ashley) and his two grandchildren, Gray and Charlotte.
His legacy lives on in the lives he touched - with love, generosity, and the example of a life well-lived.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 31, from 12:30-2 p.m. at Concord Baptist Church with a Celebration of Life following.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Missionary Projects at Concord Baptist Church.
