The Chattanooga Symphony & Opera will once again host a free Veterans Day concert on Wednesday, Nov. 11, at 7:30 p.m. at the DoubleTree Hotel by Hilton - Downtown Chattanooga. Sponsored by Compass Commissioning & Design, the ninth annual concert  will include beloved patriotic classics such as Star-Spangled Banner and America the Beautiful alongside contemporary works, including local composer Kenyon Wilson’s Five, a moving tribute to the five service members lost in the 2015 attack on Chattanooga's U.S. Navy Reserve Center.

The program will also mark the CSO’s first public performance with new CSO Youth Orchestra Conductor and CSO Assistant Conductor Ismael Sandoval.  "I am extremely honored that my debut as the new assistant conductor of the Chattanooga Symphony & Opera will be for this year's Veteran's Day Concert,” says Mr. Sandoval, who joined the organization in June 2020. “We are excited to present a program of incredible music that celebrates the American spirit and honors the brave people who have served our country. This free concert will feature many lively and well-known works that will highlight the awe-inspiring sound of the CSO brass and percussion."

The program is part of the First Horizon Foundation Instrumental Series, a new socially distant series featuring smaller ensembles of musicians and limited audience sizes. Attendees will be required to wear masks, follow social distancing guidelines, and adhere to the CSO's COVID-19 related concert health and safety guidelines, which can be found at chattanoogasymphony.org/concert-health-safety. For those who prefer to enjoy the concert virtually, a livestream will be available at chattanoogasymphony.org/digital-performances.

Tickets are free, but seats must be reserved in advance due to limited capacity. Visit www.chattanoogasymphony.org or contact the CSO Box Office at 267-8583 to make reservations and get the latest news on upcoming CSO performances and livestreams. The box office is also open for limited office hours each Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. to assist patrons in-person.
