Reach One Teach One UCA is hosting its annual toy drive to help give children in underserved communities the Christmas they deserve.
Executive Director Reginald Yearby has asked the community for donations of unwrapped toys and nonperishable food items to be dropped off at the holiday drive on Saturday, at Orchard Knob Middle School, 500 N. Highland Park Ave. from 10 a.m.
to 1 p.m.
All month long, Mr. Yearby has also been collecting toys through toy box collections at retail locations throughout the city.
Reach One Teach One Uca is an Early Intervention Program for children ages five to 14. R.O.T.O is organized with the mission of providing Chattanooga’s underserved youth with opportunities to explore insight on community and careers and develop a positive outlook on the rest of their lives.
Reginald Yearby considers himself a mentor and life coach to local youth in this vulnerable age group who need positive role models and a deeper understanding of personal accountability. Mr. Yearby said the kids look forward to the holiday drive every year. He said, “It’s important to help this community in their time of need. COVID-19 has put us in a very unorthodox time and families need help with Christmas now more than ever before."
