Tennessee has once again been blessed with two very good candidates for the United States Senate in Dr. Manny Sethi and Bill Hagerty. In fact, this race brings back memories of 1994 when another brilliant surgeon, Dr.
Bill Frist, ran against a businessman (Bob Corker). Such is the case again in 2020... and one for which all Tennesseans should be grateful and proud.
As someone who immigrated to the United States of America with her family many years ago, the best day of our lives was receiving our naturalization certificate making us citizens of the greatest country in the world. On that point, I can personally relate to “Dr. Manny.” We came to America the right way, respecting the rule of law, paying our dues and waiting in line of our names to be called.
Faith is at the very core of who I am. I believe in God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit – the only living God, Creator of the Universe and Giver of life. My faith dictates my character, integrity, strength and vision for everything I do. Like Dr. Manny, I too believe that life begins at conception and must be protected.
We both also have a conservative philosophy agreeing that taxes for every day working people should be lowered. We must also stop raising the debt ceiling to accommodate DC’s out-of-control spending. Period. We must require our government to balance its checkbook and live within its means just as we do! During my 16 years working for U.S. Rep. Zach Wamp, this actually happened under the leadership of Speaker Newt Gingrich. So I know it is possible. We just need people with the determination and drive to make it happen.
While both men will support President Trump, Dr. Manny is making it a priority to preserve The American Dream for all generations. Dr. Manny and President Trump are true political outsiders bringing new perspectives to Washington – healthcare and business – getting costs under control, working to end the opioid crisis and just getting things done. Just seems to me that we need more of that perspective rather than more establishment stalemate thinking.
So, if you remember the 1994 race, you know that the brilliant surgeon was successful in his bid and went on to become a successful U.S. Senate Majority Leader. I think we can expect to see great things from Dr. Manny as well as our next United States Senator.
So, as for me and my house, we will support Dr. Manny Sethi and hope you will join us.
