Chattanooga Symphony To Announce Music Program Plans Near End Of July

  • Saturday, June 27, 2020

Chattanooga Symphony & Opera Executive Director Samantha Teter said in a Facebook message that the CSO is working on possible live performances and livestream shows and will have an announcement toward the end of July or the first of August.

She said it possibly would involve some new venues where the musicians and a smaller audience would be able to be spread apart an appropriate distance.

Ms. Teter said it may also involve "going out into some communities" away from the usual downtown Chattanooga sites.

She said the CSO was able to obtain a Payroll Protection Loan that allowed the organization to pay musicians 80 percent of their cancelled services. She said there were a few staff layoffs necessary.

The CSO is currently working on a new agreement with musicians, she said.

Ms. Teter said the group is seeking new grant opportunities and is grateful for the continued support of its donors.
