Harold Waymond Adcock, Jr., 76, known to all as Buzz, died on Monday, June 29, 2020 at his home in South Pittsburg following a lengthy illness.

Buzz was born on May 1, 1944, and lived his entire life in South Pittsburg.

He was the son of the late Harold Waymond Adcock and Clarice Inez O’Neal Adcock, and his family history in Marion County extends back to the early history of the county.

Buzz was educated in the public schools of South Pittsburg, graduating from South Pittsburg High School, where he was a renowned football player. His support for the South Pittsburg Pirates and for the University of Alabama football team were lifelong passions. Buzz attended Memphis State University before returning to South Pittsburg, where he spent his working career at Penn-Dixie Cement, Pittsburg Knitting Mills, and Lodge Manufacturing Company. He was a member of Holly Avenue United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, Buzz was preceded in death by his son, Harold Waymond Adcock III, known as Tres, and his sister, Suzanne Adcock.

Buzz is survived by his loving wife, Sue Johnson Adcock; his daughter, Tara Suzanne Adcock; his son, Joe Alex Adcock; his brother, Dr. Charles Russell Adcock and sister-in-law, Lynn Raulston Adcock; his niece, Allyn Adcock, and his nephews, Rustan and Brandan Adcock.

A graveside service will be conducted at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 307 Main St., Jasper, Tn., on Friday, July 3, at 1 p.m. CDT, with the Reverend Logan Jackson and the Reverend Joey Manis officiating.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, July 3, from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. CDT, at Rogers Funeral Home, South Pittsburg.

The family suggests that memorial gifts may be made to Holly Avenue United Methodist Church or Food Bank, PO Box 189, South Pittsburg, Tn. 37380.
