Mary Ruth Bishop
Mary Ruth Bishop, 87, a resident of Georgetown, Tennessee, passed away Sunday, August 9, 2020, at her home.
She was a long time member of Mt. Zion New Covenant Church. She loved going to church and loved to worship the Lord. She also loved spending time with her family and her dog Lucky.
She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Cecil Jones Raby; her husband, Paul Bishop; five of her children; Bill Bishop, Joel Bishop, George Bishop, Cecil Bishop, and Diane Davis; brothers, Jack and Claude Raby; and sister, Jewel Bryant.
She is survived by her six children, Paul (Sally) Bishop of Georgetown, TN, Nolie (Sonny) Davis of Georgetown TN, Betty (Ed) Wilbanks of Tiftonia, TN, Steven (Elaine) Bishop of Hixson, TN, Joe Bishop of Georgetown, TN, and Allen (Christine) Bishop of Dalton GA; sister, Betty Shelby of Hixson, TN; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Bishop of Pikeville, TN; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews also survive.
A celebration of her life will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 13, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Reverend Ronnie Davis officiating. Following the service, she will be interred at Sylar Cemetery in Ooltewah, Tn. with Paul Bishop, Isaiah Kennedy, Brandon Wilson, Michael Harper, Allen Wilson and Steven Bishop serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony and the playing of bagpipes will conclude the service.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at the funeral home.
