Lee University’s Celine Ritter and Christian Noble were selected the Gulf South Conference Runners of the Week following their performances this past weekend at the UAH Chargers XC Open.

Ms. Ritter won the individual competition by over 13 seconds. The senior completed the 5K race in 17:06.32 to record her fourth first-place finish out of seven races in her Lee career. The time surpassed the previous Lee record of 17:14.2 that Chloe Flora set at the Greater Louisville Classic in 2018.

This is the first time this season and third overall that Ms. Ritter has earned this honor.

Mr. Noble was the individual winner of the 8K race with a time of 23:51.07. His closest competitor finished nearly four seconds later. As a team, the Flames claimed second place in their season opener.

This was the first time this season and eighth time in Mr. Noble’s Lee career to receive this honor. He is now tied with Blaise Binns of Alabama Huntsville for the most GSC Runner of the Week selections.

The Lady Flames and Flames are scheduled to travel to Louisville, Ky. on Oct. 3 for the 19th Annual Live in Lou Cross Country Classic. The event will be held at E.P. “Tom” Sawyer State Park.
