CSO Performs Beethoven's Serenade At AT&T Field Concourse Oct. 3-4

  • Friday, September 25, 2020

The Chattanooga Symphony & Opera will continue its yearlong celebration of Beethoven’s 250th birthday with Beethoven’s Serenade on Saturday, Oct. 3, and Sunday, Oct. 4, at 3 p.m. at the AT&T Field Concourse.

The program will feature Beethoven’s cheery Serenade, American composer John Corigliano’s musical interpretation of Baudelaire's poem L'invitation au voyage, and German composer Paul Hindemith's chamber work, Kammermusick for Wind Quintet No. 2.

The concerts are part of the organization’s First Horizon Foundation Instrumental Series, a new socially distant concert series featuring the CSO ensembles performing for smaller audiences at venues throughout the community.

"We are continuing the celebration of Beethoven's birth (250 years ago!) with Serenade for Flute, Violin, and Viola,” says Kayoko Dan, CSO music director. “I am particularly excited to perform at AT&T Field, and the experience will certainly be unusual, yet familiar for both me and other baseball fans!"

Capacity has been limited for concerts in the Instrumental Series to assist with social distancing. A third performance of Beethoven’s Serenade has already sold out, so the public is strongly encouraged to purchase their tickets early for the two remaining concerts. Tickets will not be sold at the venue and attendees will be required to wear masks, follow social distancing guidelines, and adhere to the CSO's COVID-19 related concert health and safety guidelines, which can be found at chattanoogasymphony.org/concert-health-safety.

To purchase tickets and get the latest news on upcoming CSO performances or livestreams, visit www.chattanoogasymphony.org or contact the CSO Box Office at 267-8583. The box office is also open for limited office hours each Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. to assist patrons in-person.
