Kenneth Ray “Moon” Cathey, 71, of Cleveland, passed away on January 15, 2021. He was born on Nov. 8, 1949 to the late Charles C. and Mary E. Cathey. Moon was a lifelong resident of this area and a automobile salesman by trade. He loved racing and was an avid Jeff Gordon fan. He enjoyed playing pool and cards. He also loved his two special kids, “Wiggles” and “Mississippi.” Above all, he was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, husband and brother.
In addition to his mother and father, he is preceded in death by his wife, Jennifer Cathey; siblings, Harley Ray Cathey, Charles “Charlie” William Cathey, David Thomas Cathey, Edith M. Vaughn and Betty Greene (Paul).
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his children, Patricia Smith, Jennifer Cathey, Crystal Hutto, Shane Hutto and Nikki Hutto; sister, Linda Burns; and grandchildren, Britany White, Devin Kincaid, Dylan Liner, Tyler Cathey, Karlee Ratcliff, Gabriel Hutto, Brooklyn Pugh, Hykeem Hutto and Keyli Hutto. He also leaves behind eight great-grandchildren and numerous extended family and friends.
A celebration of his life will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday Jan. 19 at Companion Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. prior to the service. He will be laid to rest in Red Hill Cemetery.
