Ledford, Willie, Jr. (Cleveland)

Willie Ledford, Jr., 79, of Cleveland, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at his home. He was born on May 27, 1941 to the late Willie and Roda Ledford, Sr. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and was a member of Washington Avenue Baptist Church. Willie enjoyed fishing, NASCAR, wrestling and football.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bobby Ledford and Jimmy Ledford; and grandson, Travis Ledford.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of 58 years, Mary Ellen; son, Willie (Cindy) Ledford, III; daughter, Tonya Gentry; brother, Jessie (Georgia May) Ledford, of Cleveland; sisters, Betty Franks, of Cleveland, Brenda (Jim) Cass, of Cleveland, and Ruby (Larry) Mann, of Georgia; six grandchildren, Cody, Erica, Dakota, Kailee and Bubba; and three great-grandchildren, Levi, Aburie and Serenity, Papaw’s best friend.

The family will receive friends from noon-2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 25 at Mt. Zion New Covenant Church, 358 Gamble Road in Georgetown. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 2 p.m., with Pastor Ronnie Davis officiating. A graveside service with full military honors will follow in the Fort Hill Cemetery.
