UTC Men Hosts Steve Baras Fall Tennis Invite

  • Friday, October 15, 2021
The Chattanooga Mocs men’s tennis team gets set for its first home action of the 2021-22 season this weekend with its annual ‘UTC Steve Baras Fall Invite’ held at both the on-campus UTC Tennis Complex and the Chattanooga Champions Tennis Club Friday through Sunday.

In addition to the hosts, Tennessee Tech, Georgia Southern, Austin Peay, Belmont and North Alabama will be competing this weekend. The format will include singles, doubles and hidden duals while showcasing some of the top collegiate talent in the southeast.

“The UTC Steve Baras Invite has been played annually in many forms and formats, but to this day, it has been a favorite event for many collegiate players and coaches from this area of the country,” said head coach Chuck Merzbacher.

“Our team is looking forward to playing at home in front of fans, friends, and family on our beautiful UTC courts.  The goal for most of the fall has been to get much needed match play in singles and doubles.

“I think we are getting plenty this fall, and the guys are developing.”
