Charlotte Elise Boles, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 24, 2021, at the age of 91. In her final days of life, she was lovingly cared for by her daughter and family in her home in Hixson, TN.  

 

On October 12, 1930, Charlotte was born in East Orange, NJ, the daughter of the late Carl and Mildred Searing.

 

Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband, William Boles, siblings; Mary Barnard (Charlotte’s beloved twin sister) and Carl Searing; daughter, Barbara Davis; grandson, Billy Davis and great-grandson, Trevor Wilkey. 

 

Charlotte leaves to cherish her loving memory daughters, Donna Niebuhr and MaryJean James; Her niece, Debbie Barnard; nine grandchildren; Tracy (Dewayne), Duke (Wanda), Tara (James), John (Rebecca), Shawn, Shannon (Richard), Tina Marie, Rebekah, and Laura (Eddie); 23 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. She also was blessed to have many other family members and friends who loved her and will miss her dearly.  

 

Charlotte spent over 30 years working as an LPN with Ancora Hospital in Camden County, NJ. She served and loved others well during this time and impacted many lives. She was well known and admired, a member of the Methodist church. Charlotte loved her family, was an avid reader and writer, bird watcher. She loved games (never missed a Bingo night), puzzles, football, animals, and a good pina colada. She was funny, witty, strong, and bluntly honest in all things. We will miss her every day. 

 

Special thanks to the wonderful Hospice Staff and Dr. Sherry Glover; we cannot thank you enough for your kind and compassionate care of our Charlotte while she was in her final weeks and to her devoted daughter Donna who provided invaluably, loving care to her mother for  

many years. 

 

A memorial service is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 30, at Chattanooga Primitive Baptist Church, 811 Runyan Drive, Chattanooga, Tn. 37405, with Elder James Hindman officiating. Family and Friends are welcome to a gathering downstairs immediately after the service.  

 

Rest well, sweet Nana B. We love you and will meet you on the other side. In the meantime, we will continue to carry on your legacy of “Holding down the Fort.”
