Susan Buckner Darling
Susan Buckner Darling, 71, of Chickamauga went to her heavenly home on Friday, December 10, 2021.
She was a lifelong resident of North Georgia and was a 1968 graduate of City High School. After her high school graduation she continued her studies at University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center, College of Dentistry, where she received her Dental Hygiene Degree. Susan worked for 30 years for Dr. George Mason, DDS and was a member of the Elizabeth Lee United Methodist Church.
She was very involved with 4-H and her work with special needs children who she would let help on her alpaca farm where she raised and showed alpacas. Susan was very involved in her community, serving the Walker County Democratic party for over 30 years. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Susan will truly be missed by all of those who knew and loved her.
Susan was preceded in death by her mother, Jeame Austin Hitchings and father and stepmother, Mr. and Mrs. Reuben E. Buckner, and brother, Edward A. Buckner.
Susan is survived by her son, Pete (Angie) Ballis, daughters; Lila (Ryan) Newman and Tami Alsobrook, grandchildren; Starr, Tony, Todd, Ruby, Tyson, Maddie, Olivia, Hayden, Ryan, Brianna and Payton, siblings; Linda, Carol, Mary Elsie, Jan and Shirla, and her dear family friend, Eddie Upshaw. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive to cherish Susan’s memory.
A celebration of Susan’s life will be conducted on Friday, Dec. 17, from 5-8 p.m. at Lane Funeral Home and Crematory.
